Welcome to the journal of the descendants of Williamsburg’s First Family.
The first family of Williamsburg, Iowa refers to the first non-native settlers in the Troy Township area of Iowa County, Iowa. They include three siblings and their spouses: Evan D. Evans & Jane (Simon), William Evans & Sarah (Evans), and Ann (Evans) and Richard Pugh. Ann married Richard Williams after Richard Pugh died and is considered part of this founding family. The town of Williamsburg was named for him. See Family Journeys for more information on their migration.
Descendant and friends are welcome and encouraged to post news about our ancestors and descendants. This could include family stories, research, news of family reunions and meeting distant cousins. News about affiliated families would be valuable as well; we may be able to find information about our ancestors through close neighbors and traveling companions.
I will likely be concentrating on Richard Williams research, since we have so little of his past figured out. Please register and submit an article! If we can’t twist your arm to write a story, please leave a comment on an existing article.
Happy research,
Steve
– 2nd great-grandson of Ann (Evans) Pugh Williams and Richard Williams.
